You will enjoy receiving this interesting newsletter. There is a minimum cost of $6.50 a year is to cover postage. To go on our mailing, use the enquiry form below, or get the newsletter online

Our History

Since its foundation in 1865, The Salvation Army has seen and affirmed the value of women. In these days, numbers of denominations are celebrating the ordination of women. In The Salvation Army women were commissioned (ordained) as Salvation Army Officers (ministers), in their own right, from its very beginning.

Today women continue to be given opportunities to be empowered for ministry, both as officers (ministers) and in other leadership roles. The unique needs of women are being recognised and the value of women mentoring women accepted and encouraged.

Throughout New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, The Salvation Army is constantly seeking to be relevant to the ever-changing needs of women. In Salvation Army corps/churches and social centres a wide variety of programmes and service opportunities are provided.

Our Aims

The four aims of Women's Ministries are:

  • worship -- experiencing and growing in a personal relationship with God
  • education -- increasing skills and gaining knowledge in many areas
  • fellowship -- sharing in times of mutual enjoyment and friendship
  • service -- seeing the needs of others and doing something practical to help

Based on these aims, this is our prayer

Our Mission (International)

The mission of Women's Ministries is to:

  • bring women into a knowledge of Jesus Christ
  • encourage their full potential in influencing family, friends and community
  • equip them for growth in personal understanding and life skills
  • address issues which affect women and their families in the world
