Children's Programmes
The Children’s Mission department is a part of the larger Children and Youth Missions department. Captain Jennifer Morris is the Children’s Mission Director for the territory. The department encourages children’s work within the territory and to resource children’s workers, assisting them to do their tasks well.
Areas that we cover are:
First Steps
A ministry where every child between 0-4 years of age is valued and nurtured in a loving and caring Christian community (Corps). 'First Steps' may also be for many parents, an avenue through which they will make their own 'first steps' into a Christian church. 'First Steps' can be divided into two different types of ministry: the ministry of 'Outreach" and the ministry of 'Pastoral Care'. When Children are dedicated, given back to God in a thanksgiving service, or attend a pre-school group they can receive a 'Certificate of Welcome'. The presentation of this certificate to parents emphasises that the child is valued by the Corps.
Primary
In most corps, at the age of three, children can start Primary, which is an age appropriate programme of Bible teaching for three to seven year olds.
Sunday School/Children’s Church/Junior meeting
After the primary, the majority of our corps provide a programme for the children from seven to twelve years of age. There is a wide range of programmes covering mid week and Sunday programmes, depending on who the corps is targeting, and what staff they have available.
Kids Postal Bible Club
The primary aim of Kids Postal Bible Club is to provide Bible stories and activities for children, aged 2-14 years, who are unable to regularly attend a Sunday School . The programme is based on Scripture Union material and is designed for a parent/caregiver to work on at home with their child(ren).
Material is posted out monthly. There is no charge, but an annual donation to cover postage is suggested.
To receive a sample pack and enrolment write to:

Include names and ages of children and a return postal address.
Junior Soldiers
If a child has committed his life to Jesus in a way that is appropriate at that age, they can be invited to become a Junior Soldier or Junior Member of the corps. They will meet together with others who have also become Junior Soldiers for Bible teaching, Discipleship, and doctrinal teaching etc.
Corps Cadets
At the age of 12 a child can become a Corps Cadet. Corps Cadets do a prescribed course of Bible and Doctrinal studies.
Junior Youth Groups
There are a number and variety of youth groups that operate around the territory.
In our department, and by the grace of God, we seek to encourage and envision, Equip and resource, provide policy direction, and represent needs of the work at Territorial Headquarters, for all those ministering in the areas that I have mentioned, in order that they might be effective in leading children into relationship with Jesus.
