Donations
From its inception, The Salvation Army has been a movement that depends very largely on the support of men and women of goodwill who, in a variety of ways, identify with the mission of the Army.
Of course, there are those who join The Salvation Army and in fact become members of the Army. Others are employed by the Army in its multitude of programmes operating throughout the country and in the South Pacific. However, the involvement of others with The Salvation Army is by no means limited to those who either join or are employed by the Army.
There are ample opportunities for voluntary support at a range of levels such as monetary donations, bequests, child sponsorships, volunteer workers, volunteer collectors, donations of clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac, business partnerships and sponsorship, plus a host other such activities.
For information regarding the Army's activities, how we fund our operations and how you can help, please contact in the first instance the public relations office nearest where you live.
In addition to seeking donations and funding from external sources, Salvationists contribute significantly towards the running of the Army's work, both locally and offshore. One example of this is the annual Self Denial Appeal - where Salvationists are encouraged to put aside One Weeks Salary on Missionary Service (also known as OWSOMS).
Funds raised from this (internal) appeal all go to the Army's international headquarters in London for distribution to countries where The Salvation Army is active in missionary work.
Requests to use The Salvation Army name and logos
The Salvation Army is committed to assisting all people without regard to nationality, race, belief, sexuality, ability, or judgement of behaviour. Our philosophy is that we can best express our love for God by compassionately reaching out to help people.
Our reputation and goodwill have been built on this foundation of care, and the name and logos of The Salvation Army have been protected by international copyright laws. They can only be used by permission.
We are grateful for contributions to assist in our community work, but ask that all organisers and fundraisers contact us before promoting an event as a benefit of The Salvation Army. We reserve the right to decline if the values are contrary to those upheld by The Salvation Army.
