Family Tracing Service
What we do
The Salvation Army Family Tracing Service endeavours to locate family members who are out of touch with other family members and where possible, and when appropriate, to reunite them. In some cases, contact is established for the first time.
Family Tracing is a caring ministry and provides assistance in the restoration of family relationships. We recognise the pain of broken family ties, the isolation and loneliness of estrangement, the guilt and frustration of unresolved disagreements, the lack of identity of those who have never known close family bonds. When requested, in addition to searching for the missing family member, we are willing to provide support and guidance for those seeking to work through issues such as these, so that they can know healing and wholeness. We also provide spiritual and emotional support for those involved.

How long does it take?
Searches can take from a few days to several years, and no timeframe can be guaranteed. The service does not look for people who have only been out of contact for a brief period of time i.e. normally less than six months.
The service accepts urgent requests in the event of a family crisis such as accident, terminal illness or bereavement.
Where can you search?
Family Tracing Services operate in many of the over one hundred countries where The Salvation Army is established. In some countries they are known as Missing Persons' Services or Bureaux.
Those wishing to use the service should contact The Salvation Army Family Tracing Service in the country in which they reside - not the country in which they think the missing family member is.
Experience and credibility count!
|
Established in 1885, The Salvation Army Family Tracing Service has considerably more than a century of experience, expertise and credibility. In many countries, the success rate significantly exceeds 70%.
The service reserves the right to accept or reject inquiries or to discontinue a search, on the basis of motive, appropriateness and available information.
Professional confidentiality is observed and no information about the whereabouts of the person sought will be revealed without that person's permission. |
