Area Family Store Manager

Whangarei / Kamo / Dargaville

The Salvation Army Whangaerei Corps operates three Family Stores – Whangaerei, Kamo and Dargaville. These stores are vital in raising funds to resource the mission of The Salvation Army in the local area and facilitate engagement with our community.

About the role

We are looking to employ a passionate and experienced operations manager who will be responsible for the successful operation of three Family Stores through leading an effective and collaborative team, continually looking for opportunities to further improve the performance of the stores.

The role involves:

  • Leading a team of employees and volunteers
  • Development and implementation of Business Plan
  • Management of financial performance of three stores
  • Ensuring stores operate smoothly and efficiently on a day to day basis
  • Training and upskilling of staff and volunteers

This is a 40 hour per week position (Monday to Friday).

Person Specification

The successful applicant will have a range of skills and competencies which include:

  • Be an active, friendly, “hands-on”, team-focused leader. You will be involved in all aspects of running three busy shops, supporting volunteers and staff, looking after customers, planning for future needs, meeting a budget.
  • Have well-developed leadership and staff management skills; able to effectively lead and manage a team of employees and volunteers.
  • Have vision and energy for operating three successful stores
  • Use initiative, looking for new opportunities to improve the performance of each store
  • A willingness, commitment and passion to work in accordance with The Salvation Army Mission and Values
  • Team leadership & HR experience
  • Have a full NZ drivers licence
