Caseworkers (2 full-time vacancies)

Addington, Christchurch

We are looking to employ 2 full-time Case Workers to join our Emergency Housing team based at Poulson Street, Addington. These are two new positions as part of our expanding team, working with the men both within our Hostel and out into the community.

This is a busy Emergency Housing service with 88 beds within our hostel for men (across two sites) and a further 25 beds for families across other locations around the city. This service has been operating for 120 years within Christchurch.  

This is a 40-hour permanent position with days/hours of work negotiable. There will be some rostered evening hours up to 9pm each fortnight, to meet the needs of our clients. While some of this Case worker role will be within the Addington hostels, you will be also supporting the men as they progress towards independents in the community.

The ideal candidate will have the following :

  1. Very supportive of the mission of the Salvation Army and the work of the Supportive Accommodation service.
  2. Have a full drivers licence  
  3. Be self- directed and supportive of the Men and their life journey, their families and other support agencies.
  4. Have at least 1 full year of paid employment working experience within Addictions or Mental Health or Corrections type of services   
  5. You will need at least a Level 6 Diploma or Degree qualification in one of the following: Social Work/Counselling/Mental Health/Addictions/Social Sciences/Health Sciences. Registration would be an advantage. We are keen to support you towards completing a Post Grad Cert in Health Sciences (Mental Health/Addictions) or similar.      

Applicants must be eligible already to work in NZ with a NZ residency or work permit suitable for this role. There will be a full Police criminal conviction history check.
