Cleaner (part-time)

Addington, Christchurch

We are looking to employ a part-time Cleaner who has experience in commercial cleaning to join our Emergency Housing team based at Poulson Street, Addington.

This is a busy Emergency Housing service with 88 beds within our hostel for men (across two sites) and a further 25 beds for families across other locations around the city.  

It is vital that they have the following :

  • Very supportive of the mission of the Salvation Army and the work of the Supportive Accommodation service.
  • Have at least a restricted drivers licence  
  • Be self- directed and able to engage with our clients and set a high standard in hygiene across our numerous sites.  
  • While most of this role will be within the hostels, you will do some travel at times around the city each week to clean other sites that we operate from.
  • That you have at least 1 full year of employment experience working as a commercial cleaner within a hospital, rest home, food services (or similar) and are used to meeting hygiene and infection control standards at that level.
  • This is a 20 hour permanent position with days/hours of work negotiable.  
  • NZQA/ Industry training in Cleaning/Infection Control would be desirable (or willing to undertake this ASAP with our assistance).
  •  To provide support for our clients to get Industry Certificate in Cleaning  as part of in-house training 

Applicants must be eligible already to work in NZ with a NZ residency or work permit suitable for this role. There will be a full Police criminal conviction history check.
