Family Store Manager

We are looking for a dynamic retail store manager to take charge of the running of our Henderson Family Store. Creating and managing a team of both paid staff, and volunteers is a key component of this role. Previous experience of developing and leading a team in a retail environment is highly desirable.

About the role

This is a permanent full-time position for 40 hours per week working Monday to Friday. 

You will bring your vision and energy to run the store to meet, and then exceed its targets. This is not an ordinary retail role as you will take charge of pricing stock, and deal with the processing of donated goods.

Your duties will include:

  • Managing the overall performance of the store, including financial management
  • Ensuring the store meets performance indicators in all key areas
  • Setting the direction through effective leadership and the pursuit of operational excellence
  • Driving exceptional customer service led from the shop floor
  • Generating new sales through innovation
  • Developing and leading a team including volunteers and ensuring key relationships are maintained and developed
  • Actively maintaining positive communication and effective working relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with all Salvation Army Health and Safety requirements for the store
  • Ensuring compliance with all Salvation Army Family Store policies, including HR, cash and EFTPOS handling.

You are

  • Sympathetic to the aims and mission of The Salvation Army
  • Experienced at developing and leading a team in a customer service environment
  • Physically fit, as some lifting will be required
  • Able to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • A team builder and player
  • Resilient, positive and people-oriented
  • Adaptable and able to work under pressure
