Family Store Warehouse Manager

The purpose of the Warehouse is to supply good quality second-hand goods to the community through our two Family Stores in Dunedin. The funds from the two Family Stores are a significant source of funding for the many services provided by the Dunedin City Corps.

We are looking for a full time strong,  highly motivated Manager to manage our Family Store Warehouse in Dunedin. This person needs to be passionate about second hand and recycled goods and see their role as much as a community service in terms of raising funds for a good cause, as a successful business.

A strong work ethic is required as is the ability to meet deadlines, solve problems, work under pressure and model top notch customer service skills at all times.   Conversely, the ability to be flexible and adaptable is also essential when working in the second-hand arena due to the nature of the position not just with our wonderful volunteers but also donors.

The successful applicant will also be a proven and effective team leader able to establish a positive and productive staff/volunteer culture, as well as recruit and maintain additional volunteers. Warehouse experience is not essential but the ability to make smart decisions and simplify or streamline complex inbound flows of donated goods is essential.

  • Ability to motivate and lead volunteers and staff
  • Strong business acumen to align warehouse performance with overall goals. Help to achieve profitability in an efficient and cost-effective way.
  • An ability to influence and negotiate through effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of integrity and reliability
  • Ability to improve teams to the next level with planning, goal setting and constant on the job coaching.
  • Previous experience in the not for profit sector desirable but not essential
