Manager- Family Store

We are looking for a savvy and dynamic retail store manager to lead a team of staff and volunteers at our Johnsonville Family Store. People management is a key component of this role, so previous experience in leading a team is essential.

About the role

This is a permanent full-time position of 40 hours per week Tuesday - Saturday.  You will bring vision, zeal, drive and passion to take this store to the next level and beyond, growing both our customer and donor relationships. This is no ordinary retail role as you will take charge of pricing and deal with the complexities of processing the flow of donated goods.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the overall performance of the store, including financial management
  • Ensuring the store meets key performance indicators in all key areas
  • Setting the direction through effective leadership and the pursuit of operational excellence
  • Driving exceptional customer service led from the shop floor
  • Leading and developing a team and ensuring key relationships are maintained and developed
  • Actively maintain positive communication and effective working relationships
  • Follow the set policies/procedures for making cash and EFTPOS sales
  • Liaising/reporting to Corps Officers

You are

  • Sympathetic to the aims and mission of The Salvation Army
  • Experienced at leading a team in a customer service environment
  • Physically fit, some lifting will be required
  • Able to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • A team builder and player
  • Resilient, positive and people oriented
  • Adaptable and able to work under pressure

This is a wonderful opportunity to put your retail skills to work while also giving back. We provide training and staff can be mentored to gain NCEA credits through retail modules completed with ServiceIQ.
