Overnight Site Monitor (Fixed-Term 10 weeks)

The Hastings Emergency Housing Centre provides emergency housing service to up to 11 single males, living in individual units on the property.

About the role

This role is a temporary, fixed-term position to provide cover for a staff member on leave. It is intended to provide security for the occupants and the property by monitoring the site regularly during the night. You will report directly to the Team Leader, and may have contact with occupants or neighbours. The role will be sole-charge, 40 hrs per week, to be worked from midnight to 8 am on weeknights.

Responsibilities include:

  • walking around the premises every half hour and monitoring security cameras
  • recording of activities and reporting any issues which may have arisen to the Team Leader
  • responding to occupants in the event of an emergency or issue
  • personal contact with occupants as and when required

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • be self-motivated, confident and assured in yourself and your work
  • have a current security license, or have had one within the past 6 months
  • be able to pass a drug test if asked, and have a strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
  • be reasonably fit and able to act as first-responder in the event of an emergency
  • be an accurate record-keeper
  • be a good communicator, friendly and able to relate to people at all levels
