Team Leader - Addiction Practitioner

We are looking for a dynamic Team Leader, with considerable experience in the Addictions Sector. This clinical role includes empowering staff to deliver the best possible service to tangata whai ora accessing addiction treatment at The Salvation Army Whangarei Bridge.

This team delivers Alcohol and Other Drug Assessments, a group Day Programme, and one to one AOD Brief Interventions. Applicants will engage in clinical work alongside holding responsibility for managing the team and their effective delivery of clinical services.

As a member of the leadership team responsibilities will include oversight of all aspects of clinical care, development and management of personnel, governance reporting, risk management and on-going service development.

The successful applicant must have proven ability as a change leader with the ability to think strategically, generate a vision and deliver service improvements. The ability to build strong networks and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders is essential.

The successful applicant will have experience in managing teams, well developed written and oral communication skills, and significant experience in a variety of AOD treatment settings. A commitment to bi-cultural practice and a willingness to embrace Salvation Army kaupapa is essential. Knowledge of The Salvation Army Model of Treatment is preferred, as is proficiency in Te Reo Māori. 

Candidates should be adaptable, energetic, self-motivated and committed to our mission of ‘caring for people, transforming lives and reforming society’.

Ideal qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Addiction Studies or Social Work. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling must also have Post-graduate qualifications in Addiction Studies. The successful applicant must meet the requirements of the HPCA, Social Workers Registration Act, or DAPAANZ, and hold a current practicing certificate.

This is a full-time position.
