Tutor - Just Brass Programme



About the role:

To provide brass instrument tuition to children from specific primary schools within Christchurch through the Just Brass Programme 

In addition to teaching music to the learners, the tutor must also demonstrate and nurture life skills as part of the tuition process.

The role extends to overseeing instrument, music and equipment allocation and maintenance.

There is also some time spent in the administration of this programme.

A Police check will be required as part of the application process.

Tertiary qualification in music (or similar knowledge through experience)

  • Sympathy to the aims of the Salvation Army
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Cultivates and maintains a warm and welcoming ministry climate.
  • Passion and spiritual gifting to work in ministry and mission with The Salvation Army
  • Able to relate to people from a diverse range of age groups, backgrounds, culture and socio-economic groups.
  • Able to work as part of a greater team and independently, and receive supervision
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Have a current drivers licence.

  • Be committed to personal and professional training/ upskilling and development
