Welcome to the Salvation Army Petone. We are a corps (church) plant that started in February 2010 and we're exploring faith and community together with people from the community.
We are focused on figuring out how our faith in Jesus and the expression of that on Sunday can intersect with our daily lives and bring out the God colours and flavour in society.
We have a Playgroup every Wednesday and Friday during the term from 9:30am until 11:30am. It is a fun and safe environment to engage with your children through play and music. Entry is $2 per child or $3 per family. Please bring your own drink bottle. All babies and preschool-aged children accompanied by their parents/guardians are most welcome.
The Great Escape Cafe
On the final Sunday of each month, we have a pancake breakfast and fantastic coffee made by our own barista. We have the Playgroup toys out and activities for kids of all ages. It costs $5 per adult and $3 per child and you can eat all the pancakes you want. It would be great to see you there. Our next one is on Sunday 31st August 2014.
Weekly Prayer Meetings
You are all welcome to attend Kneedrill (our prayer meeting) every Sunday at 9am. Additionally you are invited to join us at our Prayer Breakfast each Thursday at 6:30am.
“Prayer is where the action is.” (John Wesley)
We run many regular events in and around Petone. Please contact us or check out our Facebook page for more details.
Our Current Sermon Series
This month each Sunday at our 10am service we are looking at GIVING - how we spend our time, energy and money.
Our next shared lunch will be following our service on Sunday 14 September 2014 - stay around and enjoy a feed with us.
Family Trivia Night
Thanks to those who came and took part on our recent Family Trivia Night - we raised a total of $195.50 for Salvation Army mission work overseas! Keep an eye here and on our Facebook page for further details about another upcoming Trivia Night!
Come along on Sunday 7 September 2014 at our service at 10am as we celebrate our fathers, grandfathers and other significant role models in our lives. Bring them along if you can! We have a guest preacher, Lt Brad Carpenter, sharing with us.
Our final Corps Prayer Event for the year is on Friday 3 October. Keep an eye out here or on our Facebook page for more information closer to the date.
