Youth & Children

Wellington Youth Services

Our service is staffed by positive role models who understand the needs of young people, care about their wellbeing, and have the skills to guide them in a positive direction for life.

Supervised Transitional Housing
Wellington Youth Services offers supervised transitional housing; a safe and supportive environment where residents are encouraged and empowered to make positive life choices. This service includes:
- Support and advocacy for WINZ appointments and court appearances
- Help with budgeting skills, entering training for future employment, and applying for jobs
- Encouragement to restore relationships with family, where appropriate
- Assistance to move on to suitable long-term housing

Youth Meal
Our weekly youth meal provides a safe place for young people in our programmes to meet, giving them the chance to connect with each other and our youth workers in a relaxed setting.

Youth Leadership
Wee work with a number of high schools in Wellington, Capital Training and any other providers wanting to run targeted programmes to develop the leadership potential of young people. Our programmes are suitable for young people aged 13 to 24 years. Participants gain skills in:
- team work
- problem solving
- communication
- time management
- working with others
- goal setting
Ongoing mentoring helps young people put their new skills into practice and overcome emerging challenges.
