
Key objectives
The National Coordination Service's key objectives are:
- Support the provision of dedicated Maori, Pacific and general problem gambling services
- Maintain an awareness of any new emergent issues or trends that may impact on the problem gambling sector
- Improve communication and coordination among agencies involved in preventing and minimising gambling-related harm
- Encourage informed public debate and support for initiatives to prevent and minimise gambling harm
- Align national, regional and local activities to ensure they complement each other and support the Ministry’s Strategic Plan
- Facilitate collaboration among service providers involved in preventing and minimising gambling-related harm, to minimise provider isolation and achieve nationally consistent service delivery
- Recognise the needs of the providers, and work with the Ministry to develop a programme for responding to these needs, to build and improve capacity across the sector
- Facilitate and support specified workforce development activities in conjunction with the Ministry and problem gambling workforce development and training provider/s
- Establish strong communication links with the Ministry, and other stakeholders within the problem gambling sector
