Services Offered by the Oasis Centre

The Oasis Centre offers a free outpatient service for gamblers and their families. Treatment is free and confidential, and it works.

Face to face Counselling

  • crisis intervention
  • full comprehensive assessment
  • ongoing counselling
  • ‘affected other’ counselling
  • couple’s counselling
  • family therapy

Group participation

  • mixed-gender group
  • education group
  • women’s group
  • couple’s group

Referrals

We also make referrals to specialist services and self-help groups (including Gamblers Anonymous and Gamanon) who offer:

  • information and advice (including legal and budgeting advice)
  • crisis intervention (legal, financial, relational and/or psychological)

Your expectations of the Oasis Centre

Our counsellors will endeavour to make an appointment with you at the earliest available time. You are welcome to bring along a support person to your appointed session.

In your relationship with your counsellor, you may expect:

  • courtesy and punctuality
  • feedback from assessments
  • participation in all areas of treatment
  • professional advice

Your confidentiality is assured with the only exceptions being:

  • if your counsellor perceives a risk of harm to yourself and/or others
  • if your counsellor consults with Oasis staff and supervisor/s on your case, whereby the utmost care will be exercised to conceal your identity from these consultants.

The Oasis Centre is committed to honouring the Treaty of Waitangi through ongoing consultation and development of practices which will demonstrate partnership in services, policy and delivery.
