Senior Services Programme

Volunteer Friendship Support for the Elderly

Salvation Army worker with older womanLife doesn't have to become a struggle as you get older. Looking after your house or sorting out paper work can start to become more and more difficult if no one is there to help. Life can get lonely, too.

Senior Services is about being there and serving your practical needs if you could use some help and companionship.

You may miss spending time with friends or being part of a church, but this doesn't have to be the reality of growing older. Senior Services provides the opportunity for a regular visitor to call for a chat and a cuppa or to fix something around your home.

The Senior Services Programme is committed to ...

  • Recruiting and matching volunteers to provide friendship and support for elderly people in our community
  • Providing ongoing support for both clients and volunteers
  • Connecting clients who want spiritual guidance and pastoral care with Christian services
  • Advocating for clients with government, health and social agencies
  • Helping find tradespeople to address home maintenance or repair issues where possible*
  • Providing better access to transport*

*These services are dependent upon availability of a volunteer and location of the client and may not always be possible to provide.
