Whanau Fun! - Gambling Harm Awareness Week events 2017

Whanau Fun - Together we can beat gambling harm!

Gambling Harm Awareness Week runs from 4-10 September 2017 and is about raising awareness of the risks and harms associated with gambling. 

Together, let's identify when gambling is getting out of hand and learn what to do about it. 

Evidence shows that spending time with your loved ones and sharing rewarding activities together is a powerful way to protect them from social harms. (For more information, visit

Bring yourself, your friends and your school! For fun and games, competitions and prizes, dancing, free goodies and more! Māngere Whānau Fun Day is all about engaging in healthy activitys.

Come along to one (or all!) of our community days - What to expect: Fun and games for the whole whanau, competitions and prizes, free goodies, street art demonstration: watch local rangatahi bring their pieces of work to life, vote for your favourite artwork, support young passion and creativity as part of a fun night out (at the Hamilton Night Markets).

Wellington and Wairarapa:
Below are the range of events in the Wellington and Wairarapa region:

When: ​September 7, from 6pm
Where: P.I.P.C. corner of Daniel and Constable Streets in Newtown

There's a range of great stuff to participate in, or just watch! Come along and join us for the prize giving of the colouring-in competition from the children of Newtown!  We have Family passes to the zoo as prizes. There's a children's fashion parade from the Newtown Family Store. We have a person from the Mechanical Tempest coming along to show people basic bike maintenance, a Hula active demonstration, free sausage sizzle by the Newtown Corp, musicians, fruit and water, face painting, prizes throughout the night, games, family photos. All based around the 5 Ways of Wellbeing from the Mental Health foundation; Learning; Being Active; Sharing; Taking Notice; and Connecting with others - the 5 ways to build healthier, happier people!

Come along to our FREE community event! We'll raise awareness around the harm that problem gambling can cause. Bring the whanau and join in the fun!
