History

The first Training College and library for The Salvation Army in New Zealand was established in Aro Street, Wellington in 1912.  After 70 years, in 1983, a new college and library was built in Trentham, Upper Hutt. In 2000, the college was renamed 'Booth College of Mission'.

In 2010 a building project generously funded with a legacy from the late Maureen Plowman, brought together the BCM library and The Salvation Army Heritage Centre and Archives, with the two becoming collectively known as the ‘Plowman Resource Centre’.
