Red Shield Appeal Breakfasts

Each year during Red Shield Appeal, The Salvation Army hosts a breakfast in Auckland and Wellington to bring together corporates, businesses, organisations and individuals with a desire to support the lives of Kiwis most in need.

Commissioner Robert Donaldson invites you to attend a Red Shield Appeal breakfast - this is an opportunity to hear how leaders from the public sector and The Salvation Army have contributed to transforming lives through their inspirational leadership, exceptional talent and determination for change.

Robert DonaldsonRobert Donaldson is The Salvation Army’s recently appointed Territorial Commander for New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

A passionate and charismatic leader, Robert returns to the key leadership role in New Zealand after four years service in South Africa and 30 years working side by side with Kiwis in need.Robert has also served as a Director on boards in the health and education sectors.

Peter HughesPeter Hughes is a widely respected public sector leader with a 30+ year career in the New Zealand state sector.

The current Secretary for Education, Ministry of Education and former Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development, Peter has delivered impressive outcomes across his many leadership roles, including at Internal Affairs, the Health Funding Authority and the Ministry of Health.Peter was named the 2010 and 2011 Government Department CEO of the Year by TransTasman magazine.

Penny HulsePenny Hulse is a respected and well-known local government leader. As Deputy Mayor of Auckland Council since 2010, she is responsible for leading some of the Auckland region’s most significant projects that will drive the development of a vibrant, sustainable city, including city development with a focus on high-quality, affordable housing.

Penny is passionate about community engagement and partnership. She is known for her 'inclusive style and fairness' and skill in uniting communities and groups across the political spectrum. As a trustee and guardian of numerous community groups across the region, she has been standing side by side with Aucklanders in need for more than 20 years.
