Commissioner Don Bell (Territorial Commander) asks all Salvationists to pray for the families and friends of the 29 miners killed at Pike River Mine.
We join with other New Zealanders in praying for the miners’ families, work mates, mine management and all who worked tirelessly in the rescue effort. Pray for those who are supporting them in the grief of tragic, unexpected loss.
Pray too for the leaders and members of The Salvation Army in Greymouth and the Southern Division as they offer practical and pastoral support to their community in a time of great challenge. May the strength of this community eventually bring hope and comfort to those who grieve.
Pray that the deep pain that people are experiencing will not be a barrier between them and those who love them, or between them and God.
