Salvation Army personnel in Christchurch now have the benefit of two brand new, top-of-the-range Isuzu four-wheel drive vehicles to negotiate the city’s pot-holed and corrugated roads.
Two Isuzu Dmax 4X4 double cab utilities were recently donated to The Salvation Army. They are currently being used to ferry food, water and other essential goods to residents of Christchurch’s quake-damaged eastern suburbs.
One vehicle was donated by an anonymous donor and the second is a gift from Isuzu Utes New Zealand.
Public Relations Secretary Major Robbie Ross says that with the poor state of many roads, the utes are proving invaluable in accessing damaged communities.
‘These are very generous and immensely practical donations,’ he says.
When the one-tonne, three-litre powered light trucks are no longer needed in Christchurch, they will be available for future Emergency Services missions.
