The Salvation Army supports this omnibus bill, and the ongoing work of the Minister and the Ministerial Group on Family Violence and Sexual Violence. The Salvation Army is also pleased to see the cross-party consultation that occurred in the early construction of these reforms and we hope this continues.
The Salvation Army believes that family violence is one of the most pressing social harms facing New Zealand today. As such it requires an appropriately robust response and collaborative work from the community, the Government, and non-governmental organisations such as ourselves.
