14 Hours Homeless

New Zealand's housing crisis is having a devastating impact on our most vulnerable families and individuals. With housing and living costs now at all time highs, one in 100 Kiwis are now classed as housing deprived.

It's common to think of rough sleepers when we consider homelessness, but it's a much wider problem that needs to be addressed. 'Homelessness' includes those living in unsafe and unsuitable locations such as on the streets, in garages, tents, motels, caravans, cars, couch surfing or living in shared housing with other families.

Every day in New Zealand, agencies work together to help homeless individuals and families to access food, emergency accommodation, clothing, furnishings, counselling and other welfare support to help address their financial, health, security and social needs.

Together we could do so much more. Please join us and be part of 14 Hours Homeless 2017.

14 Hours Homeless

On Friday 13th October 2017 from 6pm- 8am, we will run our 14 Hours Homeless events around the country to raise funds and awareness about the reality of homelessness in New Zealand. You can help make a difference by finding people to sponsor you to sleep out in cars, on couches or on cardboard for 14 hours alongside other participants in a secure outdoor environment. You can set your own fundraising target and create your profile here on our fundraising platform - it couldn't be easier to complete.

When and Where?

We're looking for motivated people to sign up to make a difference. We'll provide you with material to promote your efforts through the resources section of our website. On the night, we'll provide modest refreshments, thought-provoking stories, entertainment and a couch/cardboard to sleep. Car sleepers will need to source their own car! Security and medical support will be available on the night. Just bring your sleeping bag or blankets to keep you warm. So sign up, grab your sleeping bag and start fundraising for this great cause!"
