Addiction Peer Support Worker

  • Are you passionate about coaching other people in recovery?

The Salvation Army Bridge have launched new services on the West Coast providing Alcohol and Other Drug treatment services to people in community outpatient settings.

We have a full time (40 hour per week) position available, providing peer support and coaching in one to one, day programme and continuing care support settings to people wanting to reduce the harm associated with their alcohol and/or other drug use.

Key Tasks include:

  • Supporting and encouraging others to reach and achieve their recovery goals.
  • Co delivery and facilitation of AOD group education sessions.
  • Recovery peer support and coaching.
  • Facilitation of continuing care groups.

Person Specifications:

Lived experience of addiction and recovery is essential.  

We are looking for the right person who:

  • Demonstrates an ability to engage well and motivate positive change in others.
  • Is in recovery from addiction and lives a recovery lifestyle.
  • Has a sound understanding of tikanga and bicultural practice.
  • Has good organisational and administration skills
  • Has a current full NZ driver’s licence.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have the ability and willingness to undertake appropriate and relevant study to a minimum of level 4 on the NZ Qualifications framework.
