About the Department/Operation/Programme

Epsom Lodge is an 85 bed Supportive Accommodation residential facility in Auckland for men and women. Our clients have transitional housing needs often (but not always) accompanied by addiction, mental health and relationship issues. We provide 12+ week’s emergency accommodation and after care support to find suitable long term accommodation and begin the journey of addressing other life goals.   Our clients are referred to us from Corrections, Health and social service organisations, police and self-referrals.

 

About the role

This role is for a suitably qualified caseworker with degree level qualifications in health, psychology, social sciences or equivalent. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will have a caseload to manage from admission to departure and including after care in the community. You will be the key after hours first aid lead so we are looking for someone with experience in this area. This position is permanent 40 hours per week Monday – Friday 3:30pm – 12midnight.

  • Working to support our clients with housing, recovery journeys, health and wellbeing and life goals.
  • Regular training and group supervision given.
  • Never a dull moment!
     

Person Specification

  • Full NZ Driving Licence
  • Excellent experience in medication administration and first aid delivery.
  • The ability to relate positively and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent standard of computer literacy skills
  • The ability to be self-motivated and work both independently and part of the team.
  • Proficiency in needs assessment and case management skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Able to work from a bicultural perspective
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Empathy with the values and mission of The Salvation Army
