Our clients are looking to make a change in their lives. While they come from any culture, socioeconomic group, ethnicity, gender or sexuality, we are often working with those from minority groups who have been subjected to judgement and trauma.

We are looking for a male caseworker in particular; to facilitate groups across the full range of genders and ideally provide a male perspective to what is, at present, an almost complete female team. This position is full time, Monday to Friday based in Mt Eden or Waitakere.

The successful candidate must have a professional approach, be registered or working towards full registration and be an excellent communicator, confident to facilitate sessions with clients in both group and in one-on-one session.

Auckland Bridge services are supplied across sites in Waitakere, Mt Eden, Manukau, as well as short-term treatment and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) respite in partnership with Ember in Manurewa. In addition, we are part of the AODTC (Alcohol and Other Drugs Treatment court) and under this have both residential and a separate 90-day service.

Person Specification

  • Qualified and registered professional;
  • Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
  • At least 1-year clinical experience working with clients from AOD;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Preferred experience in group facilitation or training;
  • Ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Can work from a bicultural perspective; 
  • Flexible, has problem solving skills and strong professional boundaries;
  • Empathy with the values and mission of The Salvation Army.
