About the Department/Operation/Programme

As part of the Information Systems Group (ISG) Department, the Data Analysis and Support Team provides System Administration support for 3 key systems of the Salvation Army: SAMIS (Service and Mission Information System), iMIS (Integrated Management Information System) and Technology One.

This involves System and User management tasks (upgrades, configuration, new users, password resets etc.), report writing, data imports and exports as well as general help desk support for these systems.

The Applications Systems Analyst assists the Department in fulfilling its mission by assisting Officers (Ministers) and Staff to obtain timely and accurate information on The Salvation Army’s effectiveness, through their use of the SAMIS.

This is a unique role to influence the mission of the Salvation Army.  You will assist in making decisions on what information is to be utilised (what gets measured gets done) and will provide tools and information to the people who need it. 

The role requires a can-do attitude by someone passionate about the mission of the Salvation Army and who is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the system remains a success.

Key tasks

  • System Administration, Configuration, Testing & Trouble Shooting;
  • Report writing using Crystal Reports;
  • End User support;
  • Ad hoc queries;

The role can be diverse, challenging. No two days will be the same and thinking cap will be required.

Person Specification

  • Competent Transact SQL writing skills (queries & stored procedures);
  • Experience with Report writing using Crystal Reports or SSRS;
  • Experience with supporting web-based application/CRM;
  • Communication skills for all levels of stakeholders and users;
  • Attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team as well as with minimum supervision.
