Cambridge Family Store Supervisor

  • This position will suit a person who loves the second-hand retail industry, who enjoys working with a team of staff/volunteers and who also who has a passion to contribute to The Salvation Army helping the most vulnerable in our community;
  • The successful applicant will be the sole charge of the store on Saturdays and have responsibility of working with and managing volunteers;
  • This position will allow the right person to work closely with our Assistant Manager in making our store a better place to shop.

This is a permanent part time position, 10 hours per week.
Thursday 10:45 am - 4:45 pm.
Saturday 8:45 am - 12:45 pm.

About the Cambridge Family Store

The Salvation Army requires a Family Store Supervisor to join our busy team in Cambridge. Responsibilities include creating/maintaining a volunteer support team and overall leadership of the Family Store operations 1 day per week. The successful applicant will also be provided with the opportunity to contribute to the developing mission of The Salvation Army in the Cambridge community.

The purpose of our family Stores is to:

  • Provide quality affordable second-hand goods to the community;
  • Generate funds for corps-based community programmes;
  • Provide a link between family store customers and other corps-based programmes.

Key tasks

  • Working closely with the Assistant Manager;
  • Managing volunteers;
  • Processing, sorting and pricing of donated goods.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will need a range of skills and competencies, including:

  • Good people skills and the ability to relate to people from a diverse range of cultures and social backgrounds;
  • Openness, honesty, flexibility and good communication skills;
  • Integrity of character;
  • Business or Service Centre management experience;
  • Good knowledge of quality improvement processes;
  • Well-developed leadership and staff management skills;
  • Good level of written, verbal and reporting skills.
