  • Facilitating transformation for tangata whaiora impacted by the misuse of alcohol and/or other substances

40 hours per week: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

About the Department/Operation/Programme

This role is for someone who is passionate about working from a harm minimisation perspective tangata whaioa misusing alcohol and/or other drugs. The role involves completing Alcohol and/or other Drug Assessments, group facilitation and case management.

Key tasks

  • Provision of comprehensive assessments
  • AOD case management
  • Facilitation of AOD groups

Person Specification

  • Has a passion for making a difference
  • Experience in Alcohol and Drug case management with tangata whaiora
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Experience in Alcohol and Drug treatment group work and one to one counselling
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Have a willingness to work from a bicultural perspective and have an awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Empathy with the values and mission of The Salvation Army
  • Hold a Full Driver Licence


  • The applicant must hold a relevant applied qualification in Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counselling, or Health Science.
  • All applicants must hold current professional full or provisional registration with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB), HPCA or DAPAANZ.
