About the role

This is a ministry position and is about growing the Children’s Ministry at Tawa Corps and to help build relationships with children and their families in the community.

Key tasks:

  • Develop and maintain the Children’s Ministry volunteer team;
  • Form and develop effective relationships with parents and caregivers of children;
  • Live a life consistent with following Christ and demonstrating ongoing personal growth and    development;
  • Assess spiritual development needs of Tawa Children;
  • Oversee mission and ministry of Tawa Children’s Ministry;
  • Ongoing pastoral interest in all Children at Tawa Corps and the Community;
  • Make connections with schools in the local community;
  • Explore new mission opportunities for Children in the community.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in working with Children and Families;
  • Open to doing the Children’s Ministry training within The Salvation Army;
  • Understand how to lead teams, programmes and how children learn (desirable);
  • A passionate relationship with Jesus Christ is vital;
  • This role would suit a  uniformed senior soldier, or someone contemplating becoming one  within 6
  • months of employment;
  • Sound understanding of The Salvation Army mission and values;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Effective user of Social Media;
  • Proven team player;
  • Self-motivated and self-managing;
  • Effective time management, planning and organisational skills.
