This is a full-time Ministry Position for 37.5 hours per week

About Rotorua Salvation Army

Rotorua Corps is made up of a small church congregation, a Community Ministries team engaged in social services, and a Family Store (op-shop) in central Rotorua.  Our aim is to bring hope and support to our community in relevant ways as per The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement and values.

About the role

We are seeking a Children’s Worker to join our church congregation in a ministry position to develop and bring much needed faith-based ministry and support to children and their families.

Key tasks

  • Pastoral Leadership over Children’s Ministry which includes co-ordinating the running of weekly discipleship-based programmes, encouraging and equipping volunteers, and building relationships with families connected to Rotorua Salvation Army.
  • Developing initiatives for ministry to children in Rotorua with the Corps Officers and Leadership Team, and advocating for children in the decision making of the Rotorua Salvation Army.
  • Promoting and actively participating in Salvation Army children’s events divisionally and territorially and helping with maintaining The Salvation Army’s Keeping Children Safe compliance in accordance with our Child Protection Policy.

Person Specification

The ideal applicant will have the following Key Competences:

  • Can reflect attitudes and values of The Salvation Army Mission Statement and work to achieve its missional objectives;
  • Passion for salvation and discipleship of young people, and in leading volunteers;
  • Competent with information and communications technologies;
  • The ability to lead change, communicate vision and implement strategy;
  • The ability to work within and lead a team;
  • The ability to recruit, manage and equip volunteers;
  • The ability to self-manage, to prioritize multiple tasks and keep track of work in progress and meet deadlines;
  • Have a full/clean drivers’ licence.
