35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.

About Christchurch East Community Ministries

Christchurch East Community Ministries operates as part of the Aranui and Linwood corps (churches) and provides a wide range of services to the community which include our Food Bank, Financial Mentoring, Social Work, Parenting, Te Reo classes and more.

About the role

The manager will be involved in helping to develop this ministry, looking at the needs of the whole community, collaboration with other agencies and groups, and identifying gaps in service which we could possibly provide or facilitate. There will also be a Social Work component working with individuals and families providing comprehensive assessments, case management, and one-to-one supportive interventions.

Key tasks:

  • Staff and Team management;
  • Case management and consultations;
  • Developing multi-site delivery ensuring best practice at both sites.

If you have a commitment to supporting people and have many of the following attributes, we would like to hear from you:

  • A Social Work degree is a must. Preference will be given to a candidate who is Social Workers Registration Board New Zealand registered or who fulfils criteria to proceed to full registration;
  • Management experience;
  • Experience working in the social worker field of practice;
  • A focus on client needs;
  • Relationship building skills and a high level of empathy;
  • A high level of personal integrity;
  • Proficiency in needs assessment and case management skills; including timely entry of case notes, goal setting and outcomes, feedback, evaluation and assistance;
  • The ability to relate positively and communicate effectively with a wide range of people;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent standard of computer literacy skills;
  • The ability to meet deadlines;
  • The ability to be self-motivated and work both independently and part of a team;
  • Able to work from both a bicultural and multicultural perspective;
  • Commitment to the values and mission of The Salvation Army;
  • A full drivers’ licence.
