The Salvation Army in Napier is looking for an enthusiastic person to lead our Community Ministries team and be a part of furthering the mission of the Salvation Army in Napier. This position has the primary aim of serving the spiritual, social and physical needs of our community in collaboration with the Community Ministries team and the church congregation and leaders. 

Tasks include:

  • Leading and managing a team of employees and volunteers.
  • Developing, oversighting and managing the programme and administration of Community Ministries. This includes but is not limited to welfare, emergency accommodation and community finance.
  • Networking with central and local government, community agencies, social services agencies and current and potential sponsors.
  • Working as part of The Salvation Army Napier leadership team to determine future opportunities for community ministries and implementing strategy to meet The Salvation Army's missional aims.

The successful applicant will be passionate about working in a community setting, be motivated, innovative and able to think strategically, skilled in communication, will have practical experience in management and practical experience in community work or social services. This position would be ideal for a soldier of The Salvation Army.

This is a full-time permanent position of 37.5 hours per week.

This role reports to the Corps Officers/Directors – Community Ministries.
