The Salvation Army is a worldwide evangelical Christian church that works to care for people, transform lives, and reform society. With strong social justice values in mind, one of the programmes we’ve developed is The Good Shop, an ethical service providing home shopping and no-interest loans to people on limited incomes.
Based at our Cannons Creek office alongside the Community Loan Worker; you will travel daily around the Porirua area in The Good Shop vehicle. Your functions will include:
You will ideally have an interest in meal planning and nutrition, or at the least a willingness to learn.
Because our clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds and have complex needs, you’ll need to be comfortable building rapport with a wide variety of people. You’ll be an empathetic sort of person, with a good appreciation for their needs and, of course, a strong desire to improve their social and economic wellbeing.
To succeed in this role you will thrive on the challenge of establishing and advancing this new social innovation. You will enjoy adapting to the needs of an emerging programme, and working to help in succeed.
Applicants for this role must have a full driver’s licence and clean criminal record. You’ll be able to identify and work within The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
