Family Store Assistant

Timaru Family Store, Timaru

30 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00pm (with a half hour lunch break) and Saturday, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. Hours and days negotiable.

About the Timaru Family Store

The Timaru Family Store, is committed to:

  • Raising funds to assist in achieving the mission of The Salvation Army at local and regional level.

Together, as an integral part of the local expressions of The Salvation Army, facilitate meaningful engagement with our faith-based communities and support programmes. 

Key tasks

  • Processing donations;
  • Assisting in all aspects of the retail operation so that the Family Store fulfils its purpose and objectives;
  • Providing excellent customer service;
  • Assisting with Family Store duties as directed by the manager.

Person Specification

  • Trustworthy, reliable, hardworking with the ability to mix well in a team environment;
  • A strong sense of customer service and our link to the local community;
  • A commitment to improving skills;
  • Time management skills to prioritise multiple tasks and keep track of work in progress and complete work within agreed timeframes;
  • Good communication skills with the ability to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds; sensitivity to ethnic, cultural and social issues;
  • An understanding and respect of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi;
  • Committed to the mission of The Salvation Army.
