Salary Band: The likely salary for this role will be between $50,000 and $57,000.

About the role 
Our Waiariki Family Stores sell a range of quality donated items and offer a free pick up of donated goods along with delivery of sold items. We are a front door for the work of the Salvation Army Corps in our community.  
This is an excellent opportunity to blend driving, customer service and logistics skills together in a busy retail environment. You are critical to our business and will be first and foremost a great people person - you are our frontline representative, especially with donors. This role will be based in Rotorua, although covering the area from Rotorua, Tokoroa and Taupo. A degree of flexibility is required around hours. Note that we sometimes operate on public holidays. 
Key tasks 

  • Complete timely collections and deliveries in accordance with the day’s schedule 

  • Planning and scheduling of efficient routes for donor pick up and customer deliveries 

  • Assisting with processing donated items and getting these ready for the shop floor 

  • Loading, unloading, and stacking goods safely, in the truck and at the store 

  • Management of waste and recyclables 

  • Actively maintaining positive communication and effective working relationships  

  • Ensuring compliance with policies, particularly health and safety 

  • General retail duties 

  • Scheduling and logistics 

  • Capable of heavy lifting – this is a regular daily part of the role 

Person Specification 

  • Full current drivers’ licence, class 1 (motor vehicle) and experience driving for a least 5 years 

  • Excellent at customer service with a broad range of people 

  • A clear communicator, including being understood clearly on the phone and the ability to record written information accurately and clearly  

  • Self-managing and able to keep to task and re-prioritise as required 

  • A courteous and safe driver 

  • Able to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds 

  • Familiar with following health and safety procedures 

  • Resilient, positive and people-oriented team player 

  • Adaptable and able to work under pressure  

  • Sympathetic to the aims and mission of The Salvation Army
