Family Store Manager

Shirley Family Store, Christchurch

 

Our Family Stores exist to raise funds that enable The Salvation Army to care for people, transform lives & reform society.

We are looking for a savvy and dynamic retail store manager to lead and build a fantastic team of staff and volunteers at our Shirley Family Store. People management is a key component of this role, so previous experience in leading a team is essential.

This is a permanent full-time position of 40 hours per week.

About the role

You will be self-motivated and able to bring vision, drive and passion to this store.  This is no ordinary retail role as you will take charge of pricing and deal with the complexities of processing the flow of donated goods.  You need to be passionate about second hand and recycled goods and be able to lead the team by getting in amongst all areas of the business operation. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the overall performance of the store, including financial management;
  • Ensuring the store meets key performance indicators;
  • Setting the direction of the store through effective leadership and the pursuit of operational excellence;
  • Driving exceptional customer service led from the shop floor together with stock preparation, collections and deliveries;
  • Leading & developing a team ensuring key relationships are maintained & developed;
  • Actively maintaining positive communication and effective working relationships;
  • Reporting and ensuring Salvation Army policies and procedures are followed.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be sympathetic to the aims and mission of The Salvation Army;
  • Be business minded and ready to be part of a dynamic environment;
  • Have experience at leading a team;
  • Be physically fit as lifting is required;
  • Be able to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds;
  • Be a team builder and player;
  • Be resilient, positive and people orientated;
  • Be adaptable and able to work under pressure;
  • Be diligent and able to follow procedural instructions.
