Family Store Manager

Addington Supportive Accommodation, Christchurch

This is a 30-35 hour position (Monday-Friday).

We are looking to employ a passionate retail manager for our two charity stores located in Addington. These shops have been a part of the local community for a long time and directly fundraise for the provision of 24-hour emergency housing.

Our successful applicant for this role will already have been an experienced retail manager. They are likely to have prior experience in running a successful charity store and have strong passion for giving back to the community. You will thrive in the challenge of turning donated goods into other people’s treasure and working with a large volunteer team to make this happen.

It is vital that you:

  1. Are very supportive of the mission of the Salvation Army and the work of the Supportive Accommodation hostels;
  2. Have a full NZ drivers’ licence;
  3. Have vision and energy for operating our two successful 6-day Family stores;
  4. Are self-directed and able to lead a large team of employees and volunteers and be physically fit;
  5. Are an active, friendly, “hands on”, team focused leader. You will be involved in all aspects of running two busy shops, from taking calls, serving customers at the till, supporting and coordinating volunteers and staff, looking after customer’s requests, planning for future needs, meeting a budget;
  6. Have completed or be able to complete a Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Retail with our help;
  7. Have at least 2 years prior experience of Shop Management in a related area.
