Furniture Movers/Light Truck Driver

We are looking for physically fit furniture movers with a clean Class 1 licence to work in our Family Stores across the Central suburbs of Auckland. The role will be primarily based at the Glen Innes Family Store although there will be a requirement to service the Family stores at Panmure.

The roles involve the collection of furniture and other household goods from donors, the delivery of goods to customers residences and inter-store transfers. The role involves driving a light commercial truck.

Our staff are the first and last point of call with the public in the Family Store environment and so it is essential that we ensure the collection, sorting and sale of donated goods to and from the public is done in an efficient, friendly and professional manner.  Exceptional customer service is a strong focus of this role.

The successful applicant will have a range of skills and competencies which include:

  • Be physically fit to handle/ lift heavy and awkward items
  • Have a full, clean and current driving licence (Full class 1)
  • Have the ability to identify with the mission and values of The Salvation Army
  • Have exceptional customer service and encourage repeat custom of both our shoppers and donors
  • Be comfortable working with set procedures but able to apply sound judgement when initiative is required
  • Good knowledge of the Central suburbs area would be an advantage.
  • Be willing to contribute as part of a team to achieve and further develop the mission goals of The Salvation Army.
