We are looking to employ a Full time Caseworker, working Monday to Friday across a 2 week roster, who is interested in working with Men who are in need of Emergency Housing. This role will include an active Caseload working mainly at our 88 bed Emergency Housing hostel based in Addington and flats based at Bealey Av.

The Addington hostel site has been operating for 120+ years providing support and care for men who are homeless. This service is now contracted with MSD and Corrections, providing 3 months of hostel support and a further 3 months support in the community.

You will be based at our Addington site, providing a “hands on” practical role to walk alongside the men towards their recovery and return to community living. No day will ever be the same!!!

Our successful applicant will have at least a Level 6 NZ Diploma or Degree level qualification in Mental Health, AOD, Social Work, or other relevant health/social service qualification at that level.

Preference will be to those who have registration.

You will need at least three year’s prior experience in Mental Health, AOD, Corrections or similar.  We provide monthly external supervision, support for Post Grad Certificate education at Otago Uni, and registration fees are also paid.   

It is vital that you have the following:

  1. Very supportive of the mission of the Salvation Army and the specialised work of this service
  2. Have a full clean NZ drivers licence
  3. Be self- directed and be able to engage with a culturally diverse group of men, undertake a professional service, interacting with families and other agencies.
  4. The role is Monday- Friday week 1 (9am-5.30pm) and week 2 (12.30pm - 9pm)
  5. You will have the experience and qualifications outlined above
  6. Be able to start in May
