The Business Team at The Salvation Army’s Northern Divisional Headquarters is charged with supporting all business operations across our 23 Corps (Churches) and Community Ministries Centres. The support and advice they provide include financial administration and budgeting, property, operational support to our Family Store, and Human Resources.

About the role

The Human Resources Administrator is a crucial part of our dynamic business team. This role reports to the Divisional Business Administrator and works closely with the Business Team, our various local administrators, and our Territorial Human Resources Team in Wellington.

This is a role for someone who is fascinated by details and committed to ‘getting it right’ every time. As the HR Administrator, your role will support all HR functions including:

  • Processing requests for new and replacement staff positions
  • Managing the Police Check procedures for the Division
  • Guiding Centres through the recruitment process as required
  • Creating and distributing employment contracts and covering letters
  • Completing fortnightly payroll for the Divisional Team and training and supporting other Centres with their payroll administration

This permanent position is for 37.5 hours per week.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in managing HR processes
  • Has spent time working in local government or NGO sector
  • Has good communication and great listening skills
  • Understands that team is about bringing your best self to the game every day
