Registered Social Worker and Tenancy Manager

Transitional Housing, Auckland
  • Part time (20 hours per week) Transitional Housing Social Worker and Tenancy Manager;
  • Work with clients with housing and other social needs motivated for change;
  • Be involved in running a new transitional housing site in Mt Roskill Auckland.

About the Department/Operation/Programme

Our Transitional Housing team provides 12 or more week’s transitional accommodation and after care support for our clients to find suitable long-term accommodation and begin the journey of addressing other life goals.   Our clients are referred to us from Ministry of Social Development (MSD), health and social service organisations, and self-referrals.

About the role

This role is for a qualified NZ registered Social Worker.  You will report to the Director and will have a caseload to manage from initial enquiry, through the admission process, to departure and after care in the community.

  • Working to support our tangata with housing, wellbeing and life goals;
  • Regular training and group supervision given;
  • Never a dull moment!

This position is permanent 20 hours per week typically Monday to Friday.

Person Specification

We are seeking someone who:

  • Is a qualified and NZ Registered Social Worker;
  • Has a full NZ Drivers’ License;
  • Has the ability to relate positively and communicate effectively with a wide range of people;
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Has excellent standard of computer literacy skills;
  • Has the ability to be self-motivated and work independently;
  • Is proficient in needs assessment and has case management skills;
  • Can work from a bicultural perspective;
  • Has the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
  • Has empathy with the values and mission of The Salvation Army.
