  • This is a unique opportunity to work in the alcohol and drug sector in a residential rehabilitation facility. 
  • Work in a therapeutic community with experienced peers around you to support you in your journey as you develop your skills in this field 

Hours: This is a full time, permanent position with a minimum of 40 hours work per week on a roster over weekends and nights – 5 shifts weekly in total based on a roster. 

Salary Band The likely hourly rate for this role will fall between $23.00 to $29.00 

 About the role/job description 

  • This role involves supporting clients who are in our residential rehabilitation facility as they complete their treatment program. You will be responsible for the smooth running of the house. You will also be responsible for the daily administration of medications and transportation of the clients to and from the program and to other weekly meetings. There is a house manager who orients you and oversees the role. 

  • This role will allow you to grow your CV whilst studying or allow for a better work-life balance. If you’re interested in entering the industry full time as a counsellor there are study grants available and plenty of support from the wider team for you to study whilst you work as there are night, day and evening shifts available. Clinical supervision will be provided around your interactions with clients 

Person Specification  

  • The ideal applicant will be studying for a Level 4 or higher qualification in alcohol and drug counselling or mental health support work. 

  • They must be good communicators and have good personal boundaries 

  • They should have a current drivers licence 

About the Department/Operation/Programme 

The Dunedin Bridge is an 8 bed, residential facility with clinical staff providing the AOD program 9.00-3.00 daily at another venue. The residential facility is run by a separate team of residential support workers. The program is part of the Salvation Army mission in New Zealand and is presented across Aotearoa at various sites. You will be working with other residential support workers overseen by a residential house manager. The Bridge delivers the Community Reinforcement model as a basis of treatment and the model is embedded in the 12 Step NA/AA process.
