Hours: We have a part time permanent role in our Petone Family Store. The role is for 8 hours a week on a Saturday. Must be available to work weekends and Public Holidays.

About the Petone Family Store

Our Petone Family store provides quality clothing, linen, furniture and great household items. Join our small team of staff and volunteers who have the combined goal of raising funds for The Salvation Army mission for the benefit of the local community.

About the role

You will need to be able to:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and encourage repeat customers in both our shoppers and donors
  • Develop a knowledge of merchandise available for sale and the pricing strategy
  • Process donated goods to identify quality goods and get these efficiently out on the shop floor
  • Work alongside the manager to enhance the appearance of the merchandise displays
  • Be accurate on the till and with other record keeping required
  • Be comfortable working with set procedures but able to apply sound judgement when initiative is required

Part of the role will be helping to process, sort, and price incoming donations. Lifting is involved and the successful applicant would need to be physically fit and capable of performing such tasks.

Once you are trained you will at times give guidance to volunteers, ensuring high standards of customer service and store presentation are maintained.

You will bring your:

  • Experience in customer service
  • Comfort with cash handling and banking
  • Reputation for reliability and having a great work ethic
  • Ability to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Sense of fun and style
