Social Detoxification (Detox) Service, Palmerston North

The Salvation Army Bridge Programme – Social Detoxification (Detox) service in Palmerston North have vacancies for casual Support Workers to work at our residential facility.   

We welcome those with a lived experience of addictions (either personal to you or within the whanau) to apply for this role.

The Salvation Army Bridge Service exists to provide safe, integrated, high quality treatment and support services to people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or substance use. Our services are evidenced based best practise and are known for being people-centred, caring, transformative and responsive.

You will join a passionate and caring team that support people accessing our programme by assisting them to improve life skills, relationships, and daily activities as part of their recovery.

What you need:

  • A passion for helping others through their mental health/addiction journey
  • A non-judgemental, empathic and caring attitude towards others
  • An ability to work as a team
  • Confidence to work sole shifts
  • Confidence to work overnight shifts
  • A health or wellbeing qualification or being willing to commit to working towards a qualification (support can be offered)
  • Ability to undertake training provided (applicable to role)
  • Full NZ driver's licence
  • Be competent and confident to use a computer database
  • An ability to be available at short notice

To be appointed in this role, applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ Work Permit and give permission for the completion of a satisfactory Police Check.
