New Zealand celebrates 30 years of the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal!

Kmart along with The Salvation Army are coming together for the 30th year to help support those doing it tough at Christmas and beyond. We encourage you to embrace the spirit of giving this year by supporting the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal. You can do this by making a cash contribution in store, or online, or giving a gift in store. The Appeal runs from the 13 November to 24 December 2023.

Helping support families in need in our local communities.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is New Zealand’s largest and longest-running gift collection drive. It has been helping assist those in need in local communities at Christmas and beyond for 30 years.

Working with the Salvation Army, and with the generous support of Kmart customers, donations of over $5.6 million and 10 million in gifts has been distributed to those in need at Christmas over the last 30 years. Kmart are proud to have six wishing tree champions in every one of their stores – that’s over 1300 team members that are dedicated to helping support our communities.

Who the Appeal helps

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal supports children, adults, seniors and families who are unable to afford gifts at Christmas and at a time beyond Christmas.

With more than 1 in 9 children currently living in poverty, Kmart alongside The Salvation Army are once again working together to give hope to New Zealanders who maybe struggling with homelessness, illness or even family crisis.

Chelsea & Edmonds

This festive season, Chelsea has teamed up with Edmonds to support their longstanding charity partner, The Salvation Army, in bringing attention to their 2023 Christmas Appeal. As we approach the end of 2023, it's clear that many Kiwis are facing a tough Christmas ahead.

The Salvation Army continues to see increased demand for food parcels, assisting over 150,000 Kiwis last year with support services.

This holiday season, if you’re able to give, please consider contributing via the link below. Your kindness can truly make a difference!

Woolworths Christmas Appeal

Every year Woolworths partner with The Salvation Army to help make a real difference for those in need at Christmas. Each of our Woolworths store work with their local Salvation Army to donate non-perishable food and household items, and Woolworths will match the total of all cash donations received in the 2023 Christmas Appeal up to $200,000*.

You can help by donating cash, food and other essential items at New Zealand's only online foodbank—The Foodbank Project. It’s an online grocery store that makes it easy to donate. However you choose to help, your support is very much appreciated.

A fresh way to make a difference.

*Woolworths will donate up to $200,000 to the Christmas Appeal.
