A call for The Salvation Army’s worldwide ministry to women to be fit for purpose for the 21st century is being addressed through the Women’s Ministries' ‘Reimagining’ launch in February 2020.

The Salvation Army International Headquarters' Communications have released the following update about the 'Reimagining' livestream launch, led by the World President of Women’s Ministries (WPWM) Commissioner Rosalie Peddle and World Secretary for Women’s Ministries (WSWM) Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham, as they broadcast out of International Headquarters in London.

The International Women's Ministries' 'Reimagining' launch will be livestreamed on Wednesday February 12 2020, 10.30pm NZDT (9.30am GMT) via salvationarmy.orgsar.my/youtube and sar.my/facebook

Pre-meeting worship will be streamed from around 10.15pm (9.15am GMT), and the whole event will be available to watch on demand as soon as it has finished.

This Reimagining launch will challenge Salvationists and friends around the world to consider what could be done for and alongside women and girls in their own countries and communities. Check out The Salvation Army Women's Ministries New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa 'Reimagining' article to read what 'holy urging' you can expect to hear from the Commissioners as they launch this new phase.

Why not gather a group together to watch the Reimagining launch live, or share prayer and time together with others as you view and discuss it in the following weeks?

A reimagined way to engage with Women's Ministries internationally

The live-streamed meeting will include the announcement of the new International Women’s Ministries vision statement and the unveiling of a new International Women’s Ministries logo, and will feature examples from around the world of how Salvationists are ministering to women and seeking to meet today’s needs. New social media channels will provide the opportunity for women around the world to share in inspiration and support, providing a network of prayer and awareness.

'We believe this is only the starting point of an even greater expedition that God is going to reveal in ministry to women and young girls.’ - Commissioner Rosalie Peddle

A reimagined focus for ministering to women locally

The launch comes at the end of a time of research, prayer and planning that has its roots in the last High Council, in May 2018, when Commissioner Rosalie Peddle (WPWM) shared the vision that God had given her for Salvation Army Women’s Ministries. Commissioner Rosalie told High Council members that Women’s Ministries should:

  • Have a Christ-Centred Focus – winning women for Jesus, providing holiness, spiritual growth and the development of teaching skills.
  • Be Relevant, with an Authentic Focus – providing programmes, meetings, events and resources that are relevant and purposeful to the lives and needs of women today.
  • Have a Social Justice Focus – engaging women in identifying and participating in conversations, meetings and events regarding social justice issues in their communities.

A Reimagining photographic exhibition will also be launched on the same day, featuring photos sent in as part of a worldwide competition. The exhibition, in the public Gallery 101, contains images that demonstrate the power of God’s women working together in his name.

A reimagined reality for women in The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa Territory

In the following weeks post-launch, Women's Ministries will be releasing engaging resources and looking for your input into the reimagining in our territory - so make sure you're linked in to our Salvation Army Women's Ministries Facebook Page and Women's Minstries e-news to have your say!

We have already seen so many examples of women innovating and interceding throughout our territory for some time now. We are proud of the way that our movement responds to our local communities, and rises to meet the challenges for international support opportunities like our Together We Build project. We look forward to further coming together to see how Jesus wants to shape the next chapter of our movement in the New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa Territory.

You can watch the launch live or after the stream has finished - whichever suits you. We value your part in this movement and would love to share in this reimagining with you.
