Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2018

"Take time out from gambling, put time into whānau."
Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2018

Gambling Harm Awareness Week 3 – 9 September 2018

This year Gambling Harm Awareness Week will run from 3 to 9 September. The theme for this year is "Take time out from gambling, put time into whānau." which supports the idea of putting whānau ahead of gambling, building on celebrating healthy lifestyles focussed on in previous years.

The Army’s gambling support service, The Salvation Army Oasis, along with other service providers and local agencies, are celebrating living healthy lifestyles by focussing on well-being, development and self-determination at family fun days throughout the country – and raising awareness of the dangers of harmful gambling on individuals, their loved ones and the community.

Events include live music and other entertainment, family-friendly activities, local stall holders and food stalls. Also, the events set out to increase knowledge of the signs of harmful gambling e.g. the early signs (lying/hiding gambling, chasing losses, feeling guilty), increasing financial literacy and knowledge of help services available.

We'd love to see you at an event below!
